In the era of green development and energy conservation, the comprehensive utilization of solid waste has been widely concerned. A great amount of solid waste is produced in urban life, industry, agricultural production, and so on. It is estimated that more than 10 billion tons of solid waste are produced annually in the world, which could cause serious pollution if not disposed of harmlessly. Additionally, large amounts of solid waste contain a variety of useful resource components, improper disposal of which can cause serious waste of resources. Energy and material resources are the necessities for modern industrial and urban life, and it is in line with green development if these wastes are recycled in innovative ways and reused in the field of energy and environmental materials.
This Research Topic aims to provide a platform for researchers to share their latest studies on solid waste resource utilization, with a special focus on the conversion of solid waste into energy and environmental materials. Any new ideas of traditional and cutting-edge technologies or approaches that contribute to promoting effective recycling and utilization to achieve functional materialization of solid waste are welcomed. Furthermore, high-quality Original Research papers that present theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and application cases are also appreciated. Specific themes of this Research Topic include but are not limited to:
• Transformation of solid waste to fuel;
• Application of waste-derived adsorbents or catalysts in decontamination.
