About this Research Topic
A brief example is the commercial interest in hydrocolloids, the primary producers of which are marine algae that have paid for the development of marine algae production in Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture systems all over the globe. Though, notwithstanding marine algal metabolite's vast food and pharmaceutical potential, with a wide range of biological activity and less toxicity, these marine resources still need to be explored. In this regard, priorities lie in evolving innovative and more detailed in vitro and in vivo studies and highlighting new directions for future progress in the design of novel beneficial strategies from marine algal-derived products.
In this Research Topic, we invite original research articles or mini/extended reviews on marine algae bioactive molecules' beneficial and therapeutic potential and the food and pharmaceutical exploitation of marine algal biomass. Themes in this Research Topic may include but are not limited to:
1. Identification of novel bioactive molecules isolated from marine algae.
2. Omics analysis of marine algal extracts and purified fractions.
3. Biological activities of marine algal-derived secondary metabolites in beneficial health effects
4. Bioactive molecules with food and pharmaceutical applications.
