About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic, we will focus on the role of social, environmental and cultural factors in the development and progression of oral diseases, their role in oral health disparities and interventions focusing on these factors to improve oral health and reduce disparities. Submission of original research reports, review articles, commentaries, perspectives or short communications in the following topics (but not limited to) is encouraged:
• Cultural, environmental or social factors, their interplay and impact on oral health disparities.
• Impact of social support and social networks in oral health disparities
• Impact of social environment on oral health knowledge and behaviors
• Role of culture and acculturation in oral health disparities
• Oral health knowledge and behaviors in disparity populations
• Oral health influencing behavioral factors and their association with social factors
• Oral health disparities over the life course
• Oral health interventions targeting social, environmental, or cultural factors to reduce disparities
