About this Research Topic
Resilience refers to the ability or power to recover from adverse life events or psychological stress, which concerns a dynamic interaction between risk factors (vulnerability) and protective resources (protection). Resilience develops synergistically and dynamically from risk and protective experiences across different levels of the individual, family, and society. Families of children with neurodevelopmental disorders face unique challenges and difficulties and experience positive changes and adaptations, which relate to resilience and, consequently, help them manage significant adversity and stress.
This research topic aims to characterize family resilience in diverse samples, contexts, and perspectives; to identify the vulnerability factors, protective factors, and resilience outcomes; to develop interventions to support and enhance family resilience.
Contributions could include, but are not limited to, papers on the following themes:
- Survey of family resilience of children with neurodevelopmental disorders;
- Intervention for family resilience of children with neurodevelopmental disorders;
- Reviews of family resilience of children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Keywords: Family Resilience, Social support, Autism spectrum disorder, Attention-deficit, hyperactivity disorder, Intellectual disability
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
