The International Conference on Carbon Dioxide Utilisation (ICCDU) is the premier conference in the field. The 14th edition is to be held in the United Kingdom in 2016 and will feature presentations characterized by new and exciting research. There are three themes to the conference: CO2 Reduction, CO2 Insertion and Enabling Technologies. A sub-editor will be assigned to each theme. There will also be strong emphasis on supporting early career research. The Research Topic will seek to publish the best work irrespective of the discipline. This means we will accept papers not only covering Science and Engineering, but also social aspects and policy development. Carbon Dioxide Utilisation is a key technology in the drive towards a low carbon economy. This can be achieved not only through chemical sequestration, but also through avoided carbon: the removal of new fossil carbon from the supply chain. A major over-riding theme of the conference will be the move towards a systems approach to CDU, looking at process symbiosis and integration as well as considering individual reaction chemistries. The industrial context will feature highly with the final day being devoted to moving from laboratory to commercialisation, and we will aim to capture that in the range of publications.
