About this Research Topic
In recent years, these ncRNAs gained extensive attention due to their specific expression and promising applications in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of various cancers. The aberrant expression of ncRNAs has been linked to the development and progression of multiple cancers, metastasis, cancer stem cell (CSC) initiation, and drug resistance. Recent evidence shows that ncRNAs can be considered independent or auxiliary biomarkers in cancer diagnosis and therapeutic targets.
This Research Topic aims to provide a contemporary perspective on the numerous areas of interest regarding the importance of ncRNAs in cancer biology, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. This collection also considers the recent developments that advance our understanding of ncRNA's action in transcriptional regulation, epigenetic modifications, chromatin architecture, and cancer development. We will seek to highlight new and exciting applications of these ncRNAs as potential biomarkers in the development, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of cancer.
The scope of this Research Topic will cover several exciting aspects of ncRNAs in cancer. These may include, but are not limited to:
• Functional genomics and biochemical approaches to comprehensively dissect ncRNAs involved in cancer.
• Large-scale analysis of ncRNAs using high-throughput sequencing technologies
• ncRNAs in 3D genome organization, gene regulation, development, homeostasis, and disease.
• ncRNAs in cancer metastasis, cancer stem cell (CSC) initiation, and treatment resistance models.
• Analysis of ncRNAs interaction with other molecules (DNA, mRNA, proteins) and their systems biology.
• Emerging technologies to study ncRNAs subcellular localization and their association with cancer progression.
• ncRNAs as novel biomarkers for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of cancer.
• Development and evaluation of RNA-based therapeutics for cancer treatment.
• Novel formulation approaches dealing with the enhanced stability of ncRNAs-based therapeutics (miRNAs, Antisense RNA, etc.).
A wide range of manuscript formats will be considered, including original research, brief research reports, methods, reviews, mini-reviews, and perspectives.
Keywords: lncRNA, miRNA, circRNA, epigenetic modifications, RNA therapeutics, cancer, prognosis, genomics, cancer stem cells, drug resistance.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
