About this Research Topic
The purpose of this collection would be to highlight research on the vasopressin system and its role in the neural modulation of behavior. Over the last several decades there has been an emergence of cross-species consensus with regards to the broad behavioral domains that the vasopressin system influences.
However, there are nuanced species- and sex-differences in the functions of this system as well as evidence for crosstalk between this system and the oxytocin system. This collection would be novel, as it would extend beyond just vasopressin and social behavior. This approach will broaden the appeal of the collection to a diverse array of readers, as well as help draw out “bigger picture” conceptual links
associated with vasopressin release and action. As vasopressin continues to be a heavily studied neuropeptide this collection is likely to influence how the scientific community thinks about this system.
