About this Research Topic
Pleural and peritoneal surface malignancies are connected with extremely poor prognoses compared to many other cancer entities. However, in most cases, pleural and peritoneal surface malignancies are secondary manifestations. While peritoneal metastasis is often associated with gastroenterologic and gynecologic cancers, pleural metastasis is more often associated with lung cancer, breast cancer, and lymphomas. Due to the overall poor prognoses, new ideas, concepts, strategies, and continuous efforts are necessary to advance treatment options and outcomes.
This Research Topic aims to provide a platform for physicians, scientists and the public to present some of the novelties in this field. We welcome high-quality submissions (original manuscripts, reviews and meta-analyses) on the following topics, including in-vitro cell studies, in-vivo and postmortem animal studies, clinical studies, and electromicroscopical studies

- Minimally Invasive Approaches for Pleural -and Peritonealsurface malignancies
- Current Updates in the Oncological Treatment for Pleural -and Peritonealsurface malignancies
- New concepts of pharmacological, surgical and applicational treatments
- Relevant new laboratory approaches with the potential for clinical introduction
