About this Research Topic
Since the Paris Agreement entered into force, countries around the world have been actively promoting green development and low-carbon transition. Currently, more than 140 countries and regions around the world are committed to achieving the goal of "carbon neutrality". In the context of "carbon neutrality", the past development mode of "high input, high consumption and high emission" of energy-intensive and pollution-intensive enterprises has seriously restricted the sustainable development of the manufacturing industry. Therefore, it is necessary to further improve the renewable energy structure, system and incentive policies for green technology innovation and improving energy and resource efficiency.
Green technology innovation, energy efficiency and environmental efficiency are conducive to promoting a green and low-carbon economy, reducing environmental pollution and ecological damage, and realizing sustainable development of the social economy and environment. Therefore, improving green technology innovation and energy efficiency has become a strategic priority for many renewable energy enterprises in the face of climate change and air pollution. It has become a key measure to promote the green, low-carbon and circular development of enterprises.
Also, the growing demand of customers for environmental products, the increasing expectations of enterprises for environmental responsibility, and increasingly strict environmental regulations are the main driving forces for energy-intensive industries and manufacturing enterprises to carry out green technology innovation and improve energy efficiency, with the introduction of multi-dimensional environmental regulation policies to improve resource efficiency. Energy-intensive industries have adopted environmental quality management practices by using recycled materials, reducing emissions, conducting energy audits, promoting green technology innovation and energy efficiency, and developing green supply chains and production management.
The objective of this Research Topic is to focus on and review the literature on green technology innovation through energy efficiency, as well as environmental, social, and economic performance assessment. We aim to develop a knowledge base for policymakers and upcoming research and development to assess the sustainability of the industry, and manufacturing renewable energy enterprises, highlighting the need for a holistic sustainability assessment framework and ensuring economic progress.
We aim to collate research in this collection that measures green technology innovation, green low-carbon economic growth, energy efficiency, environmental performance and insights from environmental and sustainable energy development policy. The impact and significance of sectorial, country, or regional-specific frameworks that consider local policies around industrial and manufacturing, especially renewable energy enterprise.
This Research Topic focuses on the latest developments in green technology innovation and energy efficiency and their performance in renewable energy enterprises, and energy-intensive manufacturing. New empirical research papers, systematic literature reviews, energy and environmental policy assessments, and case reports are welcome in this issue. We also welcome research papers on new approaches to renewable energy enterprise, energy-intensive and pollution-intensive enterprise’ green products and process innovation to improve performance, as well as on the construction of indicators such as energy efficiency and renewable energy structure on policy evidence and methodological innovation.
