About this Research Topic
The aim of this Research Topic is to provide comprehensive coverage of the relevant topics concerning the new strategies and materials of microbe decoration for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Special emphasis will be given to studies that create new strategies for decoration of microbe or provide insight into the therapeutic mechanisms of the decorated bacteria.
The scope of this Research Topic covers but is not limited to:
- Novel strategies to coat or link drug or functional materials on the surface of microbe, such as polymerization, self-assembly, electronic bonding, mineralization, layer-by-layer coating, etc.
- Potential materials can be used to decorate microbe (Biomaterials, synthetic materials, cell-based materials, etc).
- Microbe and its derivatives used for disease treatment and bioimage and diagnosis.
- Novel drug or functional nanomaterials was delivered by microbe for synergistic cancer therapy, immunoregulation, gut microbiota balance.
- Development of decoration methods for improving oral administrator effectiveness, intestinal colonization ability, immune escape, tumor targeting, etc.
Keywords: Bacteria, Drug delivery, Cancer therapy, Nanocoating, Immunoregulation, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
