About this Research Topic
Solar energy and other renewable energy sources are affected by weather, season and other factors, and are characterized by intermittence, instability and significant seasonality, resulting in the mismatch in intensity, time and space on the supply side and demand side, and it is still necessary to seek approaches to integrate high proportion of solar energy into buildings and improve the flexibility in building energy utilization. In the future, building infrastructure must cover power, heating and cooling supply, and innovative solar energy utilization and control technologies need to be explored to fulfill different energy demands in buildings. In addition, there are still many problems that restrict the development of solar building integration, and its impact on architectural aesthetics, architectural structural safety and indoor thermal environment needs further discussion.
We invite researchers and scientists to submit high-quality original research articles that report fundamental research activities, field and laboratory experiments, innovative operational strategies, integrated modelling, and assessment studies on advanced solar utilization and control technologies in buildings. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for scientists, engineers, project developers, industry representatives, decision-makers, the public, and end-users to share the most recent development and innovations in advanced solar utilization and control technologies as well as other related sectors promoting interdisciplinarity.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following aspects of advanced solar utilization materials and technologies in buildings:
