About this Research Topic
The advent of omics technologies has brought unknown phyla and their interaction with other species to the limelight in the oral microbiome. Through this Research Topic, we seek to address the following:
• How is inter-kingdom interaction facilitated in the health and diseased condition?
• Does the interaction vary at the specific niche of the oral cavity?
• How does the inter-kingdom interaction affect the dynamics of host interaction?
• Are there any link between the interaction and systemic disorders?
• In the dual interaction, does targeting one of the partners affect the other?
• Is there a typical pattern in such interactions?
• Based on understanding the inter-kingdom, can we identify drug targets and biomarkers to treat and diagnose oral infection?
For this Research Topic, we welcome the researchers to contribute:
• Original research on the unravelling of specific inter-kingdom interaction
• Original research on the effect of host response upon inter-kingdom interaction
• Original research on the identification of novel drug targets and disease biomarkers either through experimental or bioinformatics approach
• Original research on the identification of novel drug-like molecules that disrupt the interaction and, thus, the development of disease
• Review articles and Concept papers
Keywords: Cross- Kingdom Interactions, Oral Dysbiosis, Host Response, Oral Cavity, Systemic Disorders
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
