About this Research Topic
The treatment of established osteoporosis is complex and costly. Therefore, it is essential to find out the modifiable risk factors responsible for developing osteoporosis so that in future new treatment strategies can be developed to treat this silent disease. This Research Topic aims to illustrate the critical role of adipokines in the progression and prevention for the disease osteoporosis. This Research Topic is also devoted to finding out the potential therapeutic targets by modulating the level of these adipokines to treat osteoporosis.
We welcome submissions covering, but not limited to, the following aspects:
• Studies related to adipokines and their role in bone metabolism
• Experimental and clinical evidence that links adipokine actions with osteoporosis
• Female researchers involved in bone research are encouraged to submit their proposals
• The positive and negative effects of these adipokines in the microenvironment of bone during the progression and treatment of osteoporosis
• Effective therapeutic strategies about the treatment for osteoporosis through modulation of these adipokines.
Keywords: osteoporosis, adipokines, bone metabolism, menopause, leptin, adiponectin
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements.
