About this Research Topic
This Research Topic focuses on basic and applied research that adopts advanced materials in the establishment and repair of the pathological microenvironment to restore the functions of tissues and/or organs. The topic welcomes, but is not limited to, Original Research, Reviews, and Mini Reviews in the following research areas:
• Design, development, and evaluation of novel pathological models in vitro and in vivo
• Pathological microenvironment models for tissue and/or organ repair
• Advanced materials target specific pathological microenvironments
• The interaction between pathological microenvironments and tissue engineering strategies
• 3D-printed functional scaffolds for pathological tissue repair
• Cells and/or bioactive factors-loaded scaffolds for pathological tissue and/or organs repair
Keywords: pathological microenvironments, tissue regeneration, stem cells, bioactive factors, advanced biomaterials, 3D printing
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
