About this Research Topic
G protein-coupled receptors regulate virtually all metabolic processes, including glucose and energy homeostasis. Therefore the elucidation of their role in health and disease will open new possibilities in drug target design and it paces the way to improved therapies.
The Topic Editors welcome reviews, original research, methods, perspectives/opinions covering mainly:
- GPCRs signalling mechanisms involved in the development and progression of obesity.
- Advances in genetic findings of GPCRs involved in obesity.
- GPCRs as therapeutic targets for obesity.
- Innovative methods or model systems to investigate GPCRs in clinical and preclinical studies.
- Genetic association studies on GPCR genes relevant for obesity.
- Functional studies on GPCR variants elevant for obesity.
Keywords: GPCRs, obesity, therapeutic targets, drug discovery, GPCRs signalling
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
