About this Research Topic
The purpose of this Research Topic is to present a novel application of therapeutic ultrasound and the advantages of combining imaging and therapy in the so-called "Theranostics" approach. This allows benefiting from the advantages of each technique, with the presentation of technological breakthroughs. We also hope to achieve the goal of cross-linking various applications for translational research purposes to allow the reader an overview of the most advanced techniques available in the understanding of therapeutic ultrasound in the cardiovascular field.
We welcome manuscripts dealing with cardiac and vascular therapeutic ultrasound with innovative technologies and various applications.
We welcome original research articles, methods, perspectives, opinions, and reviews on the following themes:
1) Evaluation of the tissue consequences of therapeutic ultrasound.
2) Combined ultrasound imaging approach coupled with therapeutic use.
3) Innovative use of microbubbles in cardiovascular pathology.
4) Bioengineering of ultrasound transducers for new therapeutic approaches.
Keywords: therapeutic ultrasound, theranostics, cavitation, High intensity focused ultrasound, thrombotripsy.
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
