About this Research Topic
Recent research has identified an overgrowing number of (bio-)markers related to clinical outcome in patients with coronary artery disease and there is an ongoing search for identification of the most powerful combination of such prognostic markers which reflects several pathophysiological mechanisms including inflammation, coagulation, necrosis and heart failure.
As this is a diverse research field that has expanded significantly throughout recent years, and still is moving forward in a fast pace, the editors think there is a need for presenting an overview of the research frontlines of this topic and to bring the reader up to date on how to best apply the current knowledge into clinical practice.
