About this Research Topic
The world will achieve carbon neutrality in the middle of the 21st century, and the development of battery energy storage will also be a continuous process. At present, industrial support and preferential treatment, subsidies for technological innovation and other policies are implemented around the world to promote the deployment of battery energy storage. Moreover, with the continuous expansion of battery energy storage applications, the security of resource supply becomes increasingly important. Integrating resource, social, economic and technological objectives into national energy policies is a critical factor driving battery energy storage development. Therefore, this Research Topic aims to identify and analyze the solutions formulated for the opportunities and challenges of battery energy storage development. These solutions can be new theories and methods with practical significance, which are finally recognized as battery energy storage policies and regulatory frameworks formulated to achieve carbon neutrality.
We welcome, but are not limited to, contributions on the following topics:
- Policy options for promoting sustainable development of battery energy storage
- Life cycle assessment for sustainable technology of battery energy storage
- Material flow analysis on battery energy storage
- Development forecast of battery energy storage market
- Efficiency, utilization, and management of battery energy storage
- International cooperation and competition of battery energy storage
- Correlation between battery energy storage production/consumption and economic growth
- Tradeoff between renewable energy and battery energy storage
- Resource crisis caused by energy storage battery manufacturing
- Design and management of battery energy storage system
This Research Topic provides a platform for academic researchers, industry practitioners and policymakers to contribute their views on the development of battery energy storage. We particularly welcome the multidisciplinary approaches to this topic.
