About this Research Topic
The aging population is expected to double across the world by 2039, with one sixth of the population at the age of 65 or more. Due to the changes in physiological and medical conditions, older adults may have a higher risk of oral diseases, such as dental caries and erosive tooth wear. Dental caries and erosive tooth wear are preventable. Effective strategies to dental caries and erosive tooth wear are essential to maintain oral health and improve the oral health-related quality of life of older adults.
The editors welcome manuscripts that investigate the strategies or practice for prevention of coronal/root caries and erosive tooth wear in older adults, including oral hygiene promotion, diet advice, tooth wear assessment, caries risk evaluation and reduction, and clinical practice that is involved in preventive care.
This Research Topic includes related laboratory research, epidemiological studies, clinical trials, case report, reviews and discussion papers on the clinical management of dental caries and erosive wear in older adults focusing on prevention.
