About this Research Topic
This Research Topic intends to focus on presenting state of the art research in the domains of energy conservation within the built environment and adopting renewable energy methods in buildings and urban areas. This includes solar energy, geothermal, wind, biomass and hydropower energy. It also aims to delve into strategies and technologies that will serve the Sustainable Development Goals and mitigation strategies for energy conservation in different building typologies, to yield a safer, better world for new generations. Finally, research that improves the overall environmental quality and provide new solutions for energy generation and conservation in the globe is a requirement in this era, in line with UN 2030 agenda.
This Research Topic welcomes research in the following areas:
• Addressing the effect of energy on the Social, economic, and environmental aspect of the built environments
• Application of renewable energy in built environment
• Energy applications in buildings
• Passive and active exploitation of renewable energy in buildings
• Grid-interactive efficient buildings with renewable energy systems
• Resource-efficient urban systems aimed at facing UHI and local climate change
• Well-being, thermal comfort, and environmental livability: adaptation studies
