About this Research Topic
This collection encourages contributions from scientists who are engaged in industry and commercial projects to provide their insights and forecasts on the ways in which Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases is utilized and explored in the industry sector. Contributions that assess the pharmacology of infectious diseases for commercialization from within academia are also welcome. Authors are also encouraged to identify the challenges that need to be overcome before pharmaceuticals and related products become economically viable. We also welcome submissions looking at challenges hindering the commercialization of drugs and solutions to speed up the process of moving drugs through the pipeline.
This Research Topic aims to collect original research and review articles on, but not limited to, the following topics:
1. Industrial challenges and solutions in designing and developing therapeutic strategies for infectious diseases
2. Exploration of mechanisms of actions of current and novel drug candidates against infectious diseases
3. Exploration of mechanisms of drug resistance for the advancement of new drug candidates in the treatment of infectious diseases
4. Analysis of combination therapies and innovative strategies for commercialization of anti-infectives
5. Analysis of repurposing existing antibiotics and combinations for the treatment of infectious diseases
6. In vitro, in vivo and/or phage PK/PD analysis and modelling of drug candidates for the treatment of infectious diseases
7. Mechanism-based PK/PD modelling for drug candidates for the treatment of infectious diseases
8. Toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics analysis and modelling of drug candidates for the treatment of infectious diseases
9. The role of Pharmacoeconomics in drug discovery for treatment of infectious diseases
