About this Research Topic
We are now at a turning point in the 21st century. Scientists have become increasingly concerned about how climate change will affect our ecosystems, healthcare systems, and overall economy within the next decade. Open Access science has made it its mission to make sure that each individual puzzle piece to climate change has a sustainable solution.
‘The Climate Change Challenge’ is an annual series aimed at showcasing the recent advancements in each individual field of scientific and humanities research. We are looking for research that highlights solutions/mitigations, challenges, obstacles, and communal decisions that have been made to tackle the urgent health challenges facing everyone and to work towards a more sustainable future for the next generation to profit from.
Specifically for the Psychology for Clinical Settings section, the Topic Editors welcome themes such as:
• Determinants of mental health related to climate change
• Impact of climate change on mental health burden in different populations
• Long-term solar insolation and psychopathology
• Extreme weather and climate events and effects on problematic behavior and traumatic events (such as gender-based violence, child and forced marriage, displacements, refugees, and unaccompanied minors)
• Changes in clinical practice to enhance environmental sustainability
• Prevention and psycho-education programs and interventions
• Influence of climate change on future thinking and mental well-being (e.g. climate anxiety or denial)
