About this Research Topic
Global Excellence in Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases: North and Central America
Global Excellence in Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases: Australia and Asia
Frontiers in Pharmacology has organized a series of special edition Research Topics, with the goal of highlighting the latest advancements in Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases across the globe, showcasing the academic excellence and high-quality work of internationally recognized researchers.
This collection aims to focus on the recent progress made in Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases in Africa. We aim to collect manuscripts that show the research being achieved within these regions. We also aim to focus on research carried out in these areas on region-specific diseases, as well as environmental and procedural challenges. We aim that collectively these Research Topics will build a resource shedding light on the recent progress made across the entire breadth of the Pharmacology of Infectious Diseases, and reflect on region-specific challenges faced by researchers all over the globe.
We welcome original research and review articles covering, but not limited to, the following topics with a focus on advances and developments achieved within Africa or on research carried out on region-specific challenges within Africa (e.g. disease/climate/procedural):
1. Basic and clinical pharmacology of existing and novel antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic or antiviral agents to treat and prevent infectious diseases.
2. Mechanisms of drug action of existing and novel antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic or antiviral agents to treat and prevent infectious diseases.
3. Novel cellular drug targets and pathways for drug entry of antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic or antiviral agents.
4. Mechanisms of drug resistance in microorganisms and mechanisms to overcome these.
Please note, contributions to the collection are by invitation only. Please contact the Editorial Office if you are interested in contributing to this collection.
