About this Research Topic
The aim of this Research Topic is to explore the impact of these emerging technologies on the nature of communication within organizations. Specifically, the Topic Editors invite manuscripts that conceptualize and theorize the role that AI, AR, VR, mixed reality (MR), and blockchain technology can play in addressing communication issues within organizations, but also in creating new ones; e.g., issues relating to transparency, communication barriers, prejudice, information hoarding, cultural nuances, multimodality, access to feedback, etc.
Articles focusing on the role and impact of technology-led changes on systems, practices, and organizational communication processes are welcome. Contributions that explore the theoretical foundations of technology-led innovations in organizational communication and their impact on aspects of work are also encouraged.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
• the role of AI, VR, AR, MR, and blockchain in the creation and management of organizational communications
• the role of the same technologies in disrupting or shaping organizational communications
• the impact of emerging technology-led tools on flows and forms of internal and external communication
• technology-led reskilling for fluid roles and structures in organizations
• the identification and management of the skills gap concerning the new channels of digital communication
• the design and creation of technology-led processes for organizational communication.
The use of qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods is welcome.
