Papillary thyroid carcinoma is the most common differentiated type of cancer that can affect the thyroid. Recent scientific advances and new technologies have allowed numerous developments in the understanding of the origins and biology of this type of cancer in the past two decades. Nevertheless, these advances led to controversies in cytologic and histopathologic diagnosis as well as therapy decisions.
With this article collection we aim to collect Original Research, Reviews, Mini Reviews and Perspective articles focusing on the recent advances in diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of papillary thyroid carcinoma.
This Research Topic is one of three 'Recent Advances in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma' collections hosted by Dr. Erivelto Martinho Volpi and Dr. Jose Federico Carrillo.

- Diagnosis and imaging techniques for papillary thyroid carcinoma,
- Risk factors and predictor of papillary thyroid carcinoma occurrence,
- Differentially expressed genes and/or gene mutations associated with papillary thyroid carcinoma.
