About this Research Topic
This Research Topic focuses on the critical assessment and monitoring of current agricultural/ water management practices and possible solutions for sustainable agricultural water management. High-quality research articles that examine existing and innovative methods of sustainable use of water resources for agriculture are encouraged. This Research Topic will address the following problems:
- Assessment of current water use practices in irrigation/agriculture and improving water use efficiency.
- Cost-effective irrigation methods.
- Water resources availability and how they are impacted by climate change and seasonal variabilities.
- Adaptation and mitigation strategies to promote the growth of varieties of crops under water stress conditions.
- Automated irrigation systems and use of modern technologies (sensors, IoT,...etc).
- Development of horticulture best practices to increase water productivity.
- Economics of water usage in agriculture.
- Virtual-water best practices and water footprint.
- Management of water resources based on monitoring, assessment, and modelling (simulation and optimization).
- Greenhouses best practices and technological greenhouses.
- Cost-effective technologies for safe reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture.
