About this Research Topic
The COVID 19 pandemic provided the opportunity for many countries and institutions to expand on the practice of teledentistry. However, there are many significant policy issues that needs to be considered with the practice of teledentistry. These include the policies on issues of privacy and confidentiality of computer-based patient information systems and databases, payment for telehealth services. Public policies may present mixed incentives and disincentives for the practice of teledentistry that those contemplating its practice need to examine carefully.
This Research Topic aims to describe the current state of teledentistry practices and to examine the public policy surrounding it. Authors will have the opportunity to write on:
- The policies and practice of telehealth within their country or continent
- Discuss the opportunities and challenges teledentistry offers as job opportunities for dental and non-dental staff
- The opportunities for patient care and students training
- Reflections on how to improve oral health care with improved teledentistry practice.
