About this Research Topic
Medication-overuse headache is a frequent problem in clinical practice world-wide and the majority of patients with MOH improve after discontinuation of the overused medication. At the present time, there are very few placebo-controlled double-blind trials to advice a specific treatment of this condition. Triptans, simple analgesics, combination analgesics and opioids are the drugs most commonly associated with MOH.
The goal of this article collection is to rise the knowledge of selected areas of this topic. The multicentric experience the authors have in chronic headache, is a medium to approach different regional realities and to ease the medication overuse problem with a multidisciplinary approach. The coordination of a pharmacological and non pharmacological approach is the key to decrease the burden of the disease. Selected items on the chapter of MOH might add value to the current routine clinical treatments.
