About this Research Topic
The increased acidification of soil decreased the availability of soil nutrients, such as calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P); mobilized the toxicity of heavy metals in the soil, such as aluminum (Al) and cadmium (Cd); inhibited the growth of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR); finally affected the plant growth, limit crop production and contaminated grain.
In recent years, this problem is becoming a serious and important issue in agriculture, as they cause significant yield losses for many crops. Therefore, there's practical application value to study the physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms of plants' response to soil acidification
A growing body of evidence indicates that soil acidification is a serious problem worldwide. The aim of this Research Topic is to explore the adaptation and tolerance mechanisms of plants' response to the obstacle factors induced by acidic soil, such as nutrient starvation, heavy metal toxicity and PGPR death, then improve the growth, production, and grain safety of plants under acid soil. The physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms of signal materials that regulate plants' adaption to acidic soil are the focus of our present topic.
This Research Topic aims at investigating the compound influence mechanism of soil acidification with high-quality Original Research and Review articles including, but not limited to:
