About this Research Topic
Frontiers in Sport and Active Living recognizes the importance of facilitating debate and discussion amongst the community, and so has organized a series of Research Topics, offering a platform for such discussion to occur in the field of sports.
This Research Topic entitled "Debates in The History, Culture and Sociology of Sports" aims to highlight themes that foster debate and discussion in the community on topics relevant to this area.
We encourage authors to submit pieces that focus on the ‘pros’ or ‘cons’ concerning topics including but not limited to:
• Sport and the environment;
• Youth participation in sport;
• Trends in exercise and physical activity;
• Sport and equitable development (e.g., socioeconomic disparity, infrastructure, accessibility, technology, gender, adaptive sport development, apparel/fitness industry)
• Inclusion in sport participation (e.g., gender, adaptive sport development, accessibility, apparel/fitness industry)
• Theoretical debates in sport, leisure, and physical activity
• Sport and the body
• Sport and the media
• Sport and equality
• Sporting pedagogies
• Sport and the social and political impacts of technology
We also welcome case studies, comparative studies, original research, and review articles that stimulate debate - the goal is to respectfully challenge perspectives and paradigms.
