About this Research Topic
Radiotherapy-induced brain injury and cognitive deficits may be mediated by brain tissue damage. Identifying brain imaging biomarkers in vivo secondary to radiotherapy is essential for us to understand radiotherapy-induced cognitive injury and cognitive impairment with more refined techniques. Although radiotherapy-induced brain injury at early stages has been confirmed reversible, it is difficult for routine magnetic resonance imaging techniques to detect it, making early identification almost impossible. The combination of multimodal magnetic resonance imaging and artificial intelligence has advanced the development of neuroimaging, enabling early prediction of radiotherapy-induced brain injury and cognitive impairment and effective individualized treatment.
This Research Topic would characterize brain imaging biomarkers in vivo secondary to radiotherapy, which may help us to understand radiotherapy-induced cognitive injury by devising more accurate techniques. We welcome submissions of the following article types: Original Research, Review, Systematic Review, Brief Research Report, Clinical Trial, Editorial, Hypothesis and Theory, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Perspective, Policy and Practice Reviews, and Study Protocol. We particularly welcome contributions that include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
• Application of multimodal imaging in radiotherapy-induced brain injury and cognitive impairment.
• Early imaging markers of radiotherapy-induced brain injury and cognitive impairment.
• Early prediction of radiotherapy-induced brain injury and cognitive impairment using artificial intelligence.
