About this Research Topic
Chronic inflammatory disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Asthma, and diabetes, are associated with serious, often debilitating, symptoms. Whilst several new drugs are available to treat these conditions, most current drugs only target late-stage disease symptoms and not initiation, and only the minority of patients treated achieve remission. As such, there is still a need to develop new medication which is safer and more specific to different inflammatory diseases.
This Research Topic aims to cover recent advances in various aspects in the discovery of anti-inflammatory drugs, including (but not limited to):
• Synthesis or isolation of novel anti-inflammatory compounds, and their biological activity
• Structure-activity relationships
• Novel targets for anti-inflammatory drugs
*Hot Topic collections are hand-selected in collaboration with our Chief Editors, with the aim to feature the most cutting-edge research within a given field of chemistry. As such, submissions to this collection will benefit from increased visibility via promotion on social media and at conferences.

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
