About this Research Topic
This research topic aims to collect contributions highlighting the central role of sex steroid hormones and/or sex steroid hormone receptors in the heart, and their potential as therapeutic targets in cardiovascular disease. By focusing on recent advances, the research seeks to address critical questions such as the specific pathways through which these hormones affect cardiac function, and how these pathways can be harnessed to develop novel therapeutic strategies. The ultimate goal is to foster a deeper understanding that can inform clinical practices and public health policies, thereby improving patient outcomes in cardiovascular disease management.
To gather further insights in the role of sex steroid hormones and their receptors in cardiovascular health, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Mechanisms of action of sex steroid hormones in cardiac tissues
- Novel therapeutic approaches targeting sex steroid hormone pathways
- Interactions between sex steroid hormones and other signaling pathways in the heart
Keywords: sex steroid hormones, sex steroid receptors, cardiovascular, therapy
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
