About this Research Topic
The goal of this research topic is to highlight recent advances in preclinical and clinical development of novel OV therapies for various types of brain tumors. We consider brain tumors in a broader sense and cover all tumor types in the central nervous system including meningiomas, spinal cord tumors and leptomeningeal disease. We encourage investigators from diverse disciplines, i.e., virology, immunology, cancer research, systems biology and neuro-oncology, to submit original research and review article manuscripts that are pertinent to OV therapies for brain tumors. We hope that this research topic will provide a forum to facilitate scientific discussions and collaborations, and foster next-generation scientists to further advance the field and clinical management of brain tumors.
This research topic highlights interdisciplinary approaches enabling recent advances in OV therapy of brain tumors. Clinical trials, original research, reviews, mini-reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, research protocol, opinion, and hypothesis are acceptable article formats. We are especially interested in contributions to the following research areas:
1) Developments of novel OVs from a variety of viral platforms that feature unique anti-tumor properties.
2) Reports of clinical trial protocols and results.
3) Research into mechanistic combinatorial OV therapies that target metabolism, immuno-suppressive tumor microenvironment, and oncogenic pathways.
Keywords: oncolytic virus therapy, brain tumors
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
