About this Research Topic
Despite the efforts of DSM-5 and ICD-11 to establish a framework for diagnostic categories in child and adolescent psychiatry, there are still several characteristics that belong to or are associated with more than one diagnosis. Irritability, sleep disturbances, emotion dysregulation, anxiety, and cognitive difficulties are examples of so-called transdiagnostic characteristics. This approach allows them to be targeted for treatment by clinicians and gives researchers the opportunity to analyze them using NIMH research domain criteria (RDocs). Medical research reports have addressed transdiagnostic features primarily through reviews. Notably, a few clinical trials have been designed to explore transdiagnostic interventions such as psychotherapies and more recently, the use of apps and chatbots.
The goal of this Research Topic is to increase the evidence of the effectiveness of transdiagnostic interventions and to explore their linkage to the RDocs through well-designed trials.
We welcome, Original research, Methods, Technology Report, Clinical Trial, Community Case Study, Conceptual Analysis, Data Report, Brief, Research Report, Technology and code, Study Protocol, papers on the following topics:
• Designs of treatment trials
• Management of sleep disturbances, irritability, limited prosocial emotions, non-suicidal self-injuries, emotion regulation, stress, perfectionism.
• Implementation of Mobile apps, and chatbots as treatment adjuvants.
• Transdiagnostic psychotherapy.
• Serious games, school-based interventions, yoga, mindfulness for the treatment of transdiagnostic issues.
