About this Research Topic
Natural bioactive compounds can be modified to increase their effectiveness by enhancing bioavailability and decreasing unwanted side effects. However, a large number of these natural products still remain unexplored, and a more comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanistic aspects of their beneficial effects is necessary. The increasingly frequent use of bioactive natural compounds determines the importance of developing studies with the purpose of evaluating their properties. Understanding the mechanisms of actions of natural products would shed further light on the application of these compounds in the prevention and treatment of oxidative stress-related diseases in humans.
The primary objective of this Research Topic is to highlight the role of some of the natural products that ameliorate oxidative stress and inflammation and reduce pathological complications associated with chronic diseases.
We welcome various types of manuscripts, including original research and review articles. All manuscripts should be relevant to the following specific themes but not limited to
• Natural bioactive compounds and natural medicinal products for the prevention of acute and chronic diseases in vivo and in vitro
• Nutraceuticals containing phytochemicals with antioxidant and/or anti-inflammatory effect
• Cellular and molecular mechanisms linking oxidative stress with inflammation and neuroinflammation
• Signaling pathways activated by ROS and/or inflammatory factors.
