About this Research Topic
The aim of this Research Topic is to compile a series of original articles aimed at identifying, treating, and modulating chronic pain and other sensory disorders associated with infectious, inflammatory and metabolic diseases. Articles designed to understand the role of neuroinflammation in these sensory disorders and encourage the development of new therapeutic strategies are of major interest. We particularly welcome submissions of original Research papers (in vitro, animal, or clinical studies) and Reviews covering, but not limited to the following subtopics:
1) Chronic pain and neuroinflammation induced by infectious diseases.
2) Chronic pain and neuroinflammation associated with joint diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and others).
3) Inflammatory bowel diseases and CNS sensitization.
4) Cancer-associated chronic pain and neuroinflammation.
5) Sensory disorders and neuroinflammation linked to metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
6) New strategies for diagnosis (e.g. biomarkers) and treatment of sensory changes and neuroinflammation associated with infectious, inflammatory and metabolic diseases.
7) Investigation of the efficacy and safety of novel therapies for resolving neuroinflammation-associated sensory changes.
