About this Research Topic
With the development of nanomaterials, sensing technology and therapeutic engineering, many efforts have been done to implement smart nanomaterials into disease diagnosis and treatment. Despite promising results, many nanomaterials and devices are limited to the laboratory phase. There is still a significant gap between laboratory-grade and medical-grade materials and devices. This Research Topic is intended to address some of the remaining challenges associated with the implementation of smart nanomaterials for disease diagnosis and treatment, including sensitivity, specificity, efficacy, and safety. It is the ultimate objective of this Research Topic to identify unmet needs and related possibilities for bringing smart nanomaterials and devices into the medical field one day.
The aim of this Research Topic is to report recent advancements in smart nanomaterials for biosensing and therapy applications. Both Original Research articles and Review articles are welcome. Preferred subtopics include but are not limited to:
• Functional nanomaterials for biosensing
• Early detection for specific diseases
• Therapeutic drug monitoring and/or in vivo imaging
• Smart nanomaterials for cancer therapies
• Rational design of smart nanozyme for biosensing or therapy
• Triggering immune system with smart nanomaterials
