About this Research Topic
The main aim of this Research Topic is to unveil novel techniques and tools in the field of untargeted metabolomics, focusing on their application. The topics covered by this papers collection include the use of novel sample preparation methods, interesting analytical approaches for the sample measurement, innovative data analyses including integration of metabolomics data with metadata or other omics data as well as approaches increasing confidence in metabolite annotation. Studies with the use of novel methods or approaches are wanted, together with interesting experimental designs, complex sample sets and metadata integration. Application of novel procedures and solutions in the field of untargeted metabolomics, where some limitations were overcome and which demonstrates advances in the field, would be a great contribution to the still-growing research community.
This Research Topic welcomes Original Research, Reviews, and Reports focusing on, but not limited to, the following subjects:
• Application of novel approaches for sample preparation
• Use of advanced analytical measurements
• Application of data analysis, validation and quality control
• Use of methods increasing confidence of metabolite annotation
• Examples of metabolomics and multi-omics data integration
