About this Research Topic
Epigenetic and non-histone posttranslational modifications are associated with transcriptional repression and activation of target genes and have been linked to many human diseases, including different types of cancer. Patterns of epigenetic regulation and non-histone modification are potential indicators for predicting prognosis and survival of cancer patients. In recent decades, significant progress has been made in the development of drugs targeting key enzymes involved in epigenetic regulation and post-translational modification in the absence of histone involvement and these. Several drugs have been approved for therapeutic application, and many more are in clinical and preclinical testing. However, some of the underlying mechanisms of epigenetic regulation and post-translational modification in the absence of histone involvement remain elusive, and their potential impact on tumor biological behavior warrants further investigation.
The goal of this Research Topic is to provide an overview of the current understanding and fundamental discoveries in the field of non-histone epigenetic regulation and post-translational modification in cancer.
We welcome submissions of various types of manuscripts, including original papers, reviews, and methods, including but not limited to:
- Integrated analysis of epigenetic regulation and non-histone posttranslational modification patterns across cancer entities
- Comprehensive analysis of epigenetic regulation and non-histone posttranslational modification for diagnostic assessment and prognostic prediction of particular cancer types
- Regulation of epigenetic and non-histone post-translational modifications and their impact on cancer initiation and progression
- Combinational therapy involving conventional approaches and targeting of epigenetic regulation and non-histone modification
