About this Research Topic
Currently, the activities of energy transportation and exploration in cold regions intend to be more frequent and call for more advanced equipment and technology to cope with complex environmental conditions such as ice, icing, snow, low temperature, wind, current, wave, storm, winterization and darkness. Cold regions are strongly affected by the climate change which introduces potential opportunities, but also changed boundary conditions and new uncertainties. When considering the challenges during engineering design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of different kinds of structures and transportation systems, there has been and is a significant need for continuous development in concept and detail design, control strategy, installation methods, computational methods, and model testing.
This Special Issue aims to provide a forum for academic researchers and technical professionals to exchange their recent important works on technological advancements with respect to challenges from extreme conditions in cold regions for energy engineering and transportation.
