About this Research Topic
Ovarian cancer is the most lethal malignancy among gynecologic cancers, with a 5-year survival rate of only 15%, largely due to diagnosis at advanced stages, recurrence, and resistance to current chemotherapeutic agents. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are thought to be responsible for drug resistance and cancer recurrence, in part due to their ability to self-renew and differentiate into heterogeneous lineages of cancer cells. Owing to the ability of CSCs to develop drug-resistance, targeting cancer stem cells is a promising strategy for the treatment of ovarian cancer.
In the past, significant progress has been made in the study of ovarian cancer stem cells and chemotherapy resistance. As the incidence of ovarian cancer continues to increase worldwide, there is an urgent need to develop more effective chemotherapy resistance or to find new and more efficient molecular targets to address this problem. The main goal of this research focus is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of ovarian cancer stem cells and drug resistance. We welcome submissions of various types of manuscripts, including original research papers, reviews, and methods, including but not limited to:
- Progression of ovarian cancer.
- Mechanism of CSCs regulation of tumor metastasis in ovarian cancer.
- Interaction between CSCs and the tumor microenvironment in ovarian cancer.
- Mechanisms of drug resistance in ovarian cancer.
- Development of chemotherapeutic and targeted therapeutic drugs.
