About this Research Topic
Males and females suffer from diseases in different ways. Understanding the sex differences in the musculoskeletal system and how this is differentially regulated by steroid hormones, is critical for optimizing patient care. With this Research Topic, we aim to explore what we know about the sexual differences and the role that the steroid hormones play in the musculoskeletal system.
We welcome submissions of studies ranging from molecular, cellular, systems, and whole-body function. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Sex differences in hormone levels and their impact on musculoskeletal diseases
- Sex differences in musculoskeletal structures
- Sex steroids action in musculoskeletal health
- Sex specific strategies for the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases
Keywords: Sex Steroid, Sex Differences, Musculoskeletal System
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
