About this Research Topic
The clinical management of animals with neuroinflammatory diseases is a complex and chronic process which may include neuroimaging and cerebrospinal fluid examinations, extensive serological or molecular profiling for infectious etiologies, protracted multidrug therapeutic regimens, and frequent follow-up care and therapeutic monitoring. There is a relative paucity of literature available to veterinarians that provides best practice guidelines for many of these management processes. This Research Topic is intended to showcase the latest research and review articles on infectious and immune-mediated neuroinflammatory diseases in order to expand our knowledge and advance the clinical care of domestic animals with these diseases, as well as highlight implications these disorders may have on human health.
This Research Topic invites contributions relating, but not limited, to:
• Antemortem diagnosis of neuroinflammatory diseases
• Clinical decision making and therapeutic monitoring in neuroinflammatory diseases
• Treatment protocols or meta-analyses for neuroinflammatory diseases
• Immunopathology and mechanisms of disease
• Liquid biopsy/biomarkers of neuroinflammatory diseases
• “-omics” of neuroinflammatory diseases
Keywords: Encephalitis, leukoencephalitis, meningitis, meningoencephalomyelitis, immune mediated disease
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
