About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic we welcome original research articles and literature reviews related to the development and application of such disruptive technologies for the study of host-protozoan pathogen interactions, including vectors and vertebrate hosts. In particular, we welcome manuscripts covering the following topics:
1. Genome-wide genetic screenings for the detection of genes important for parasite survival, pathogenicity and transmission, as well as genes involved in host susceptibility to infections.
2. Single cell omics applied to host and protozoan pathogens in vitro and in vivo.
3. The application of novel imaging approaches for the visualisation of host-pathogen interactions in vitro and in vivo
4. Bioengineering approaches for modelling tissue invasion and colonisation.
5. The application of stem cell-derived spheroids, organoids and/or assembloids for the study of host-pathogen interactions.
6. New approaches in microscopy and optical mesoscopy to visualise parasites and host-pathogen interactions
