About this Research Topic
The goal of this Research Topic is to provide an update on the novel biomaterials that have been used to deliver cells such as pancreatic islets, mesenchymal stem cells, and T cells. This collection will show the direction to which further investigations should be focused on in order to bring up those biomaterials from bench to bedside.
The current article collection welcomes all types of articles on biomaterials that have been used recently in different cell therapy approaches. We welcome any Original Research articles and Review papers dealing with the use of biomaterials for enhancing cell therapy outcomes. Topics which can be included, but are not limited to, are:
- Types of biomaterials used for cell delivery.
- Design and development of biomaterials for cell therapy.
- Modification of biomaterial scaffolds.
- Biomaterial-Cell interactions.
- Immune reaction to biomaterials.
- Feasible sites of biomaterial-cell composite administration.
- Considerations to bring biomaterials from bench to bedside.
Keywords: Biomaterials, Cell therapy, Cell viability, Immunomodulation, Microenvironment
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
