About this Research Topic
Dietary supplementation nowadays represent a valid option to treat different thyroid pathological conditions ensuring an effective preservation of the thyroid health in addition to or to delay drug treatments. The co-treatment of altered thyroid pathology with drugs and supplements could ameliorate the quality of life of patients, enhancing the normalization of the deregulated parameters, and improving the efficacy of the treatment. Evidence supporting the beneficial effects of these double treatments on the thyroid pathology outcomes and symptoms is an interesting research field.
Compelling observations also derive from the possible use of dietary supplementation to prevent severe thyroid pathology. Natural molecules and compounds administered in subclinical conditions could represent an effective therapy in order to avoid pharmacological treatments. Experimental data sustaining the eligibility of supplements in the improvement of thyroid alteration are increasingly outlining a new therapeutic approach for euthyroidism restoration.
The purpose of this article collection is to gather different papers and experimental works containing data retrieved from the use of natural compounds alone or in combination with other molecules/drugs in the treatment of thyroid pathologies both auto-immune and not auto-immune conditions.
