About this Research Topic
Contemporary researchers have contributed to the field of resistance training research in the development of new measurement methods and training strategies. The aim of this Research Topic is to highlight, on the basis of the evidence that the current literature provides, the role of resistance training for improving body composition, controlling overweighting and improving the quality of life in overweight people. Different forms of resistance training include using free weights, weight machines, resistance bands and your own body weight. For this reason, there is the need to investigate what are the most effective strategies and what are the adaptations in the short and long term. Studies involving specific populations are welcome, as well as reviews and meta-analyses that summarize the state of art of the current literature.
The Topic Editors are interested in studies with longitudinal and transversal experimental designs, as well as systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses. The purpose of this Research Topic is to add information on:
- Resistance training strategies adapted for overweight or obese people;
- Resistance training integrated with nutritional strategies aiming to improve the quality of life in overweight/obese subjects;
- Innovative methods to improve and/or assess body composition;
- Resistance training to counteract the effects of metabolic diseases.
