About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to cover infectious and parasitic diseases of aquatic animals with a particular focus on zoonotic potential. For this Research Topic of Frontiers in Veterinary Science, we invite you to submit papers on pathological features associated with pathogen identification, characterization, host-pathogen interactions including host inflammatory response to the pathogens.
Topics of interest, related to zoonoses in aquatic animals, include but are not limited to:
- Pathology (histology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization)
- Pathogenesis
- Microbiology
- Clinical and molecular aspects
- Bio-chemical parasitology
- Immuno-pathogenesis
We hope to assemble a series of contributions offering a comprehensive view of zoonoses in aquatic animal’s field caused by bacteria and parasites by submission of original research articles as well as review papers.
You are kindly invited to contribute to this Research Topic with your recent findings on this topic to improve the knowledge on the zoonosis associated with parasites and infectious disease in aquatic animals.
Neither basic clinical descriptions of an infectious disease nor surveys on the presence or absence of pathogens in/on hosts in specific regions will be considered for publication. Perspective authors are reminded that submitted manuscripts must fall within the the scope of the journal.
Keywords: fish, mollusk, zoonotic pathogens, histopathology, molecular biology, immune responses
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
