About this Research Topic
Viruses are obligate intracellular microbes that exploit the host machinery to meet their biosynthetic demands, making these host pathways potential therapeutic targets. In addition, potentiation of immune responses, regulation of cytokine storms, and modulation of epigenetic changes upon virus infections are also practical alternatives to control infections. Developing conceptually new approaches for early diagnosis, prevention and treatment of viruses are essential for bringing an end to the current pandemic and preparing for future outbreaks. Towards this goal, this Research Topic aims to shed new light on the countermeasures, molecular virology and pathogenesis of emerging and re-emerging viruses.
We aim to publish papers that significantly impact the understanding of emerging and reemerging viruses. We encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in the below aspects:
• Antiviral countermeasures
• Host-virus interaction networking
• Animal and ex vivo models for the study of pathogenesis and
• Antiviral evaluations
• Vaccination design
• Viral and/or host dependency for virulence and transmissibility of the disease
